I started making espresso, I invested sixteen bucks in an antique cast-iron hand grinder because it was a cheap alternative to the burr grinder. It made quite good, even grounds, and I didn't have to worry about the blade grinder heating up the grounds, turning them to powder, and letting all the aromatics escape.
